Surfaces: emergence

These are quartz crystals photographed under the sunset light of Sedona, AZ.

On entering the crystal, the sunlight captures and reveals organic-like shapes and forms that remain beyond the range of the human eye. For me, the experience of photographing these crystals took on an almost transcendental quality. For what had seemed like inanimate objects on my hand were ephemerally transformed into an exquisite ebb and flow of life between sunlight and quartz.

The series was taken during a love affair that was beautifully intimate, intense, and tender; and during a time of introspection.
