Surfaces: Yellowstone
I came to this series after inquiring of my friends in Sedona, AZ where I could find color in nature out there in the southwest. This series is exclusively dominated by aesthetic preocupations with color, form and design.
It is also a conceptual investigation into the idea of 'nature' and whether it is still a relevant concept and/or even existent in the physical reality of the 21st century.
Yellowstone is one of the very few tracts of land in modern day U.S. territory where patches of 'nature' still exist very much as they did prior to European colonization of the continent. What i discovered is that fragments of 'nature' survive only as museum-like exhibits behind carefully-constructed invisible glass-cages.
