Surfaces: Havasupai

These close-ups of the surface of water were taken at the Havasu river in the Havasupai reservation in the Grand Canyon. The Havasupai, which translates as "people of the blue-green waters," are one of the very few indigeneous peoples in modern day U.S. territory who managed to retain part of their ancestral, pre-European conquest lands.

After working in New York City for over 15 years, my body and consciousness daily exposed to cement and metal and glass, I discovered that this series was reflective of a personal longing for spiritual regeneration in a primal habitat as close to nature as this river in the Grand Canyon.

A percentage of sale proceeds from this series will be donated to the Havasupai Tribe.
